Moving in to student housing
Move in date
You can move in from the first date in your contract. It’s not possible to move in ealier than that date.
When you move in the landlord has made an inspection of the housing.
Keys
Keys can be picked up at our office at Stora Gatan 38 in the middle of the city center in Västerås, not far away from the train/bus station, from the starting date of your lease. Keys can only be picked up during office hours.
Remember to bring identification/passport.
What to bring
All housings are furnished for one tenant with one bed size 90×200.
You need to bring your own pillow, blanket and linen. Usually there’s no router included for internet. Check the area information side for more informaiton on what’s included.
Home insurance
Having a home insurance is a very wise and not very large investment. Most landlords require their tenants to keep a home insurance.
For international students without a Swedish personal number the insurance possibilities are a bit limited, but a basic home insurance is available through these three companies:

Rent
The rent is paid twice per semester.
The due dates for rent payments are: Autumn semester July 31, October 31, and spring semester December 31, March 31.
A pay in slip for the rent instalment will be sent to your e-mail approximately half a month before payment deadline.
It’s not possible to pay the rent at Bostad Västerås office. You can pay the rent at an exchange bank if you bring the invoice.
Internet
If Internet expenses are not included in the rent (this is specified under each student housing area) the tenant must make his/her own arrangements.
Bring your own router. If you do not have a Swedish personal code number, “Bredband2” is a good choice.

Q/A
Can a friend pick up the keys for me?
Yes, you can athorize someone else to pick up the keys for you using a key athorization document. This document is sent to you by email when you sign the lease agreement. If you haven’t recieved the document send us an email.
Where can I buy pillow and blanket?
You can buy everything you need in your home at IKEA, which is located in the Erikslund shopping centre.
How do I know which furniture is included?
You can read more about what’s included under each housing area. Some lease agreements also include a furniture list.
We are planning to stay two persons in the housing, can we get an additional bed?
No, it’s not possible. All housings are furnished for one tenant. If you are staying two persons you can add furniture’s during your stay, but be prepared to remove this when you move out.
