Apply for student housing
Register
To apply for student housing you must create a registration. State your housing preferences clearly in the registration. You can register without Swedish personal number.
Admission letter
Upload your admission letter under My Pages and notify us by sending an email to info@bostadvasteras.se. Once we have approved your certificate, you will be able to apply for housing on our website.
Housing offer
When you have registered your interest in a student housing, you will receive an offer with instructions on how to accept the offered housing. You accept the offer by making a payment of half semesters rent plus a deposit of SEK 4000. The deadline to accept the offer is stated in the offer.
It is important that you respond to the offer, you do so by logging in to ”my pages” and answering yes/no. If you do not respond to the offer in time, your registration will be blocked and you must contact us if you wish to continue looking for student housing.
Accept offer
To accept and secure the housing you have been offered you need to make a prepayment of half the semesters rent (please see your offer for the amount in SEK) plus a deposit SEK 4000.
Please note that the transfer needs to make it into our account no later than the date stated in the housing offer.
If the accept payment arrives after the deadline for the housing offer, please send a receipt of the payment in an email.
Signing the contract
When you have accepted the offer by making the necessary payment you will get an e-mail from us with a link to your contract. You can then press the link to view the contract and sign it. Keep in mind that you have to sign the contract within a few days.
When we have received the contract, signed by you, we’ll sign it as well and you’ll get a copy.
If you missed the deadline of signing the contract you have to contact us to get a new chance to sign.
Contract period
The contract is time limited during one semester, approximately 5 months, during which time you are bound by the contract. If you want to change student housing, you can do so after one semester.
All student housings for international students are rented out per semester.
Rent
Your accept payment covers a deposit of SEK 4000 and half of the first semesters rent. The rent is paid twice per semester.
The due dates for rent payments are: Autumn semester July 31, October 31, and spring semester December 31, March 31. A pay in slip for the rent instalment will be sent to your e-mail approximately half a month before payment deadline.
Refund policy
If you confirmed your housing offer by making the down payment (first half of the semester rent + deposit) and later was denied VISA (or changed your mind for other reasons) you can read more about our refund policy here.
Q/A
I have received a housing offer can I get another housing option?
You can only have one offer at the time. If you wish to decline your current offer there’s no gurantee that we will be able to offer you another housing.
Can I make the accept payment when I arrive?
It’s not possible to make the accept payment when you arrive in Västerås. To secure the housing you have received an offer on you must make the payment within the deadline.
Can I make the accept payment in another currency than SEK?
Yes, you can make the accept payment in another currency than SEK. Just make sure to transfer an amount that covers the total amount. If we receive a bit more we can use it on your next rent payment. But if we receive less than the expected amount you must make an additional payment.
Can I rent the housing for a shorter period than one semester?
No, all student housings for international students are rented out per whole semester.
