Contracts per semester

Your accommodation lease has a set duration, and it is not possible to terminate or transfer it to another student accommodation during the contract period. However, you may apply for a change of accommodation for the next semester. We send out more information regarding change of housing in March (Spring semester) and in October (autumn semester). Read more about the steps to follow when your contract ends and you are moving out below.

Before you leave

When you have decided to leave your student housing in Västerås there are a few things that you have to do:

  • Fill in and send back the departure form to Bostad Västerås, you receivee this by email in October or Mars. 
  • Make sure everything is correctly filled in and that your bank account information is provided.
  • Contact your landlord to book a room inspection.
  • If you have opened a internet subscription – make sure to cancel the subscription.

Key return

All keys must to be returned at the latest on the ending date of your contract to Bostad Västerås office, during opening hours. Except for Park and Norra Allégatan, were you return the keys to the janitor after the room inspection has taken place. 

If keys are missing a change of lock always has to be made, the cost for this will be withdrawn from the tenants deposit. 

A late return of the keys will result in extra costs or a change of lock. 

Housing inspection

All student accommodations will be inspected either during tenancy, prior departure, or after the tenant has moved out. More information regarding the inspections are sent via e-mail to all tenants in connection to the filled departure form has reached us. This is to ensure that the accommodation is cleaned properly, all personal belongings are removed and nothing in the room is damaged or needs to be repaired. 

If the inspection shows that a room has not been cleaned properly and according to all our instructions, the cost for the cleaning will be withdrawn from the deposit. The cost for cleaning is usually a set fee and does not depend on the amount of cleaning necessary. Therefore, the same cost occurs even for one small dirty area.

If major damages are caused by the tenant (as for example smoking in the room, neglecting mold growth) a cleaning specialist is required to decontaminate the accommodation and the tenant is charged for the extra cost. 

If personal belongings are not removed before moving out, an extra cost will also occur and this cost may vary depending on the items that need to be removed.

Deposit refund

During the end of each semester we have a lot to do at Bostad Västerås and that is why it may take up to 2 months before your deposit is transferred back to your account after we have received all the necessary information. We aim to handle it as quickly as we can.

  • Keep in mind that we do not cover any banking fees. We keep SEK 100 from the deposit to cover the fees. If the fee is exceeding SEK 100 we will keep the corresponding amount.
  • We transfer the deposit back in SEK. If you want it transfered in another currency instead you have to note that on the departure form.
 
 
Deposits are refunded to the bank details stated in the departure form. It must be to the same person who made the deposit payment.
