Contracts per semester
Your accommodation lease has a set duration, and it is not possible to terminate or transfer it to another student accommodation during the contract period. However, you may apply for a change of accommodation for the next semester. We send out more information regarding change of housing in March (Spring semester) and in October (autumn semester).
How to apply for a change of housing for the upcoming semester

Create a new registration on our webside
- 2State Preference
State clearly your choice of accommodation in the registration. If more than one - write down the prefered order.
- 3E-mail
Send us an email with a study certificate verifying that you have a study place at Mälardalen University during next semester together with the housing enquiry form that you received in the email from Bostad Västerås.
Important!
You are not placed in the queue for a change of accommodation until you send both documents to us. (One email with both study certificate and the housing enquiry form.)
How can I get my preferred housing option?
We will send out new offers in the same order that we have received your document for changing accommodation. In other words, the sooner that you hand in your form to us – the better chance of receiving the accommodation that you prefer.
Be very specific when you state your preferences your registration. We look at this when we send you the new offer.
To apply for a Swedish lease agreement – the criteria is that you have to have a Swedish personal number and have stayed on a lease agreement in Sweden for at least one year.
How to accept the new offer
Keep in mind that you must pay a deposit of SEK 4000 to accept the new housing. It’s not possible to use the deposit of your current housing, since it’s fixed to the housing your are staying in right now.
If you are not happy with the housing offer you have received you always have the possiblity to decline the new offer and prolong your current housing lease instead.
