Rules for tenants

We are glad to have you as a tenant. In order to have a pleasant stay in your student accommodation we have a few tips to you:

Take care of your accommodation

  • Tenants are responsible for their own cleaning, and this generally applies to shared facilities like kitchens, corridors, etc.
  • Remember that pans and frying pans should have flat bottoms and be as big as the rings you use them on. You are only allowed to cook on the stove. Other electric cooking equipment may only be used in the kitchen (You are not allowed to cook food anywhere but in the kitchen and/or on the stove). Remember as well to clean the filter of the fan above the stove, if there is one. Do not get rid of cooking odours by opening your front door so that they spread to the stairwell.
  • Clean the fridge and freezer regularly, and remember to defrost the freezer as well. Do not chip ice away from the cooling elements as they are easily damaged.
  • Only flush lavatory paper down the lavatory, otherwise there is a risk of blockage. Remember to clean the bathroom regularly, and do not forget the floor and the drainage outlet.
  • If you have any problems with any of the fittings in your accommodation, get in touch with the landlord or Bostad Västerås straight away so that any defects can be remedied.

Pets

Pets can be good company, but due to allergies they are unfortunately not permitted in student accommodation.

Laundry room

You normally book the laundry room using the special booking scheme or by writing your name on a list. How long you can book for varies. Do not exceed the time allowed as other tenants may have booked the laundry room after you. Only launder when you can completely fill a washing machine and no dying of clothes is allowed in the laundry room. Do not forget to clean the laundry room when you have finished. Laundry facilities are free of charge.

Rubbish and waste

Household waste must be disposed of in the appropriate containers. Remember to make sure that your rubbish bags are sealed tightly. You are not allowed to keep bags of waste in the corridors, stairwells or on balconies. Many landlords have garbage disposal systems in which case you are to follow their instructions.

Can I share with my friend?

Student accommodation is intended for single occupancy, unless otherwise stated. Therefore, you are not allowed to share your accommodation with anyone else. This also applies to temporary visitors wanting to stay overnight.

Be considerate...

Think about your neighbours and try to keep quiet at night and in the mornings. Noise should be avoided from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. and you should try not to shower between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. If you are disturbed by your neighbours music etc., first try to talk to them and explain that you have to study or cannot sleep. If that does not help, get in touch with your landlord or Bostad Västerås. Try to treat other people as you would like them to treat you.
